Common App: The platform you will use to fill out your application to colleges. Some schools do not use the Common App, so make sure to check with your school in that case
- FERPA rights: rights you should probably waive on your common app
- FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (financial aid), opening on December 1st
- Personal statement: Main essay written in the common app
- Supplemental Essays: Extra pieces of writing (essays) colleges ask for in addition to your personal statement when you apply
- Deadlines
- ED: Early Decision, get your acceptance letter early but you can only ED at one place because the decision is binding
- EA: Early Action, get your acceptance letter early, without any binding clause so you can EA multiple places
- RD: Regular Decision, later deadline that most people will apply to
- Rolling admissions: Colleges send acceptance letters as applications roll in, instead of all at once
- NPC/Net Price Calculator: Price calculator available calculating cost for attendance, found on most schools’ websites
- Pre-professional Programs: Programs that guarantee admission or increase chances of admission into graduate schools after your undergraduate years
